Friday, May 21, 2010, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Meeting

Title:

The Convergence of SOA and Business Intelligence (BI)

Speaker:

Robert J. Abate, CBIP, CDMP

Presentation for Download

Description:

Learn about the convergence and alignment between BI and SOA solutions. We will present how a managed information environment, which provides the foundation for both, is evolving from a “metadata-based single source of truth” to the “information assurance and delivery-engine-including repository.” Attendees will be shown how to build a structured, iteratively-developed, data integration architecture (DIA) using a model-driven methodology which will provide a solid foundation for an SOA environment and support real-time business intelligence.

We will examine the value of information to both solutions and how the following areas below provide structure to this Enterprise Information Integration environment:

  • Architectural Integration utilizing Business Architecture as the driver
  • Metadata management for compliance enforcement, audit support, analysis, and reporting
  • Reference Architectures and Model Driven development paradigms
  • Master Data Management [MDM], integration and control,
  • Effective governance initiatives and the Date Governance maturity model, Data lifecycle, and
  • Control of information usage.

You'll learn:

  • the background, definitions and key terminologies used in both solutions
  • the components of a managed information environment (the same foundational elements required for an Services Based Architecture)
  • best practices and trends in SOA and data integration.
